Zurich, January 17, 2024 - PXL Vision, the Swiss market leader and premium provider of digital identity verification solutions, is introducing a new NFC (Near Field Communication) verification module for its web-based biometric document verification solution PXL Ident. Customer organisations can now use the SaaS solution to perform web-based document verification using wireless communication technology without any media disruption. This makes NFC-based identity verification with PXL Ident more user-friendly than other providers. End-users do not have to leave the verification process to download a separate app, resulting in fewer process failures and higher conversion rates. By reading personal data from the biometric chip at the highest security level, the Auto-ID process of PXL Ident can also be used for highly regulated applications with particularly high security requirements, such as customer onboarding at Swiss banks or a Qualified Electronic Signature (QES).

NFC verification without the need for a special app

The user scans the front and back of their ID document with a smartphone camera, which starts the NFC verification process. The Instant App (Android) or App Clip (iOS) is automatically loaded in the background; the customer does not need to open an app store. The user then holds their ID card against the back of the smartphone so that any data stored on the chip in the ID document is transmitted via the NFC interface and the chip itself is validated. Finally, the information captured by the camera scan is compared to a selfie video. This provides biometric authentication of the biometric facial image transmitted from the chip via NFC. The whole process is therefore extremely user-friendly and takes only two to three minutes. Previously, PXL Vision only supported reading via NFC as part of the PXL Pro on-premise solution for mobile applications. "Integrating NFC functionality into our browser-based web application PXL Ident shows that we are constantly developing our products to improve security and user experience with innovative solutions," says Elmar Reif, Chief Product Officer of PXL Vision. "This new module will revolutionise the way our customers verify identities, simplifying the process and enabling a seamless digital experience."
