About Compassana

Compassana is a digital health platform developed by Blue Venture AG in collaboration with Medbase, Hirslanden, Groupe Mutuel, Helsana, SWICA and Trifork. It connects patients, doctors, pharmacies and other service providers within the Swiss healthcare system via a central platform. This modern medical ecosystem aims to provide secure, easy-to-use and trustworthy digital services. The highest standards of data protection, information security and confidentiality apply, particularly with regard to sensitive patient data.

A central component of this basis of trust is secure digital identity verification. This ensures that only authorised individuals can access confidential health data or services via the Compassana app. This is crucial in healthcare, where identity theft could lead to unauthorised access to medical data or the generation of unlawful treatment costs.

From the outset of designing the Compassana app, one thing was clear: access to digital services must be possible only via a reliable, secure and user-friendly identification process.

The challenge lay in combining the highest security standards with the smoothest possible user experience. The app had to seamlessly integrate identity verification that was intuitive
for all target groups to use while strictly complying with Swiss data protection and health regulations.

The solution

Compassana decided to integrate PXL Vision's automated identification solution, PXL Ident, as a white label variant with the option of fully customising the interface to match its own branding.

This integration has significantly simplified the onboarding process for users while ensuring the highest level of security when handling sensitive health data. Verification is now fully automated and seamless within the app, involving just a few intuitive steps with no media discontinuity. Thanks to intelligent automation, costs per user remain predictable, as manual checks are only necessary in exceptional cases. Reliably detecting manipulated media, deepfakes and fake IDs is particularly important, as it prevents fraud attempts before they even begin. Patients and service providers alike therefore benefit from secure, fast and trustworthy access to Compassana's digital health services.

Close cooperation and solution-oriented exchange

Initially, the integration was accompanied by a number of technical challenges, mainly due to the high regulatory requirements in the healthcare sector. However, thanks to close cooperation and a solution-focused exchange of ideas between the Compassana and PXL Vision teams, all obstacles were gradually overcome.

The solution is now fully integrated into the Compassana platform and can respond flexibly to increasing user numbers, even at peak times.
