    PXL Vision
    supports Stiftung Auffangeinrichtung BVG

“Before PXL Ident, we were already using another solution. However, it was significantly inferior in terms of quality and service. We’re glad we made the switch. Since then, we’ve been able to progressively digitise more and more of our processes.”

Head of IT Development at Stiftung Auffangeinrichtung BVG

    THE CASE Digital, customer-friendly solution

As part of its digitalisation efforts, Stiftung Auffangeinrichtung BVG had already introduced a digital identity verification solution. However, over time, requirements increased and the focus shifted towards delivering tangible customer value. “Our goal was to create a digital, user-friendly solution that would also cover the costs for our customers,” explains Christoph Egger, Head of IT Development. The previous solution had reached its limits in terms of quality, data structure, integration capabilities and overall usability.

At the same time, several processes remained heavily paper-based. Documents were often sent by post, customers had to return copies of their identification documents, and processing was largely manual. This approach was time-consuming and costly in terms of postage, not to mention tying up significant operational resources.

Depending on how quickly documents were returned, postal delivery alone could take a week or longer. For the foundation, this resulted in long processing times, high manual effort and limited scalability. Meanwhile, customer expectations for simple, fast digital services continued to rise.

    About Stiftung Auffangeinrichtung BVG

Stiftung Auffangeinrichtung BVG plays a unique role in Switzerland. Mandated by the federal government, this non-profit organisation is the only pension institution in Switzerland that provides mandatory occupational pension coverage to all employers and individuals seeking affiliation. It also manages over 1.6 million vested benefits accounts. As a privately governed foundation supported by employer and employee associations, Stiftung Auffangeinrichtung BVG is a key pillar of Switzerland’s second-pillar pension system, contributing significantly to its overall stability.

Operating in a highly regulated environment with considerable societal responsibility, the foundation serves a highly diverse customer base.

    The solution

Against this backdrop, the foundation opted for PXL Vision’s solution. The objective was to further digitalise processes and, above all, to optimise existing digital workflows and establish a stable, scalable foundation for future use cases.

The requirements for the new solution were clearly defined: well-structured data packages for seamless processing in existing systems, straightforward integration and usability that works across all generations.

The integration process was fast and efficient. “Ultimately, you need a clean API, clear documentation, and reliable support in case questions arise — and PXL Vision delivered exactly that,” says Egger. “The most complex part was encryption, as PXL operates to a very high standard. But even there, we received strong support.”BVG Welcome Page

The foundation has now been using PXL Ident for three years and has gradually expanded its use to cover additional business processes. During this time, the annual transaction volume (number of identifications) has increased by around 60%.

PXL Ident has established a secure, fully digital communication channel for sensitive customer data. This has significantly improved the efficiency of customer service. Thanks to legally compliant online identification performed upfront, requests can now be processed fully digitally at the first point of contact, without any media disruptions or security risks. A key success metric in this context is the substantial rise in the First Contact Resolution (FCR) rate. Immediate identity verification eliminates the need for follow-up questions and additional authentication steps, resulting in faster, more streamlined processes.

Initially, identity verification was limited to one or two web forms, but it has since expanded to include smaller payouts and life certificates. Since PXL Ident was introduced in May 2023, around 30,000 smaller payout transactions have been processed within the vested benefits system. Around one third of these were completed using digital identification via PXL Ident, reducing the overall processing time by an average of 20%.

    Why PXL Vision?

For the foundation, partnering with a specialist whose core expertise lies in digital identity verification was a key factor in selecting a provider. Experience with the previous solution clearly demonstrated what matters in practice.

Decisive factors included in-depth expertise in identity verification, a user-friendly API and highly comprehensive yet clearly structured data outputs.

PXL Ident has enabled the introduction of new digital processes and significantly improved existing ones. Paper-based steps have been further reduced, processing times have been shortened, and the level of automation has increased. For an institution like Stiftung Auffangeinrichtung BVG, digital identity verification is therefore a critical building block in ensuring long-term efficiency, quality, and service excellence.

However, it became clear in practice that the previous solution failed to meet several key requirements. It was limited in terms of quality, data structure, integration capabilities, and usability.
